The Challenge of Our Time
Climate Change
Climate Change stands as one of the most formidable challenges confronting our global community today. The unprecedented rise in global temperatures, primarily driven by the emission of greenhouse gases, with a central emphasis on carbon emissions, casts a shadow of grave danger over life on our beloved planet. The alarm sounded by United Nations Chief “Antonio Guterres” on July 27, 2023, warning us of the commencement of the “era of global warming,” characterized by the scorching heat of July 2023, etched as the hottest month in human history, is a poignant reminder of the urgency of our situation.
Climatic Catastrophe
In the face of this ominous threat, the exigency of our age compels us to unite and redouble our efforts to stem the tide of this climatic catastrophe. Neglecting the pernicious consequences of carbon emissions in our pursuit of development, is a path that leads inexorably to calamity- a fate we must collectively eschew.
Stakeholders
The Government of Maharashtra is acutely aware of this pressing predicament and is committed to initiating a dialogue that confers upon it the seriousness and attention it merits. Our objective is to foster a widespread and unwavering acknowledgment of the gravity of climate change and, more significantly, to delineate and execute solutions that resonate with all segments of society. From governmental bodies and industries to academia, entrepreneurs, farmers, and the general populace, we are calling upon all to become stakeholders in this vital cause.
In this pursuit, we are organizing a one-day symposium titled “Environmental Sustainability Summit – harnessing bamboos’ potential for a sustainable tomorrow,” scheduled for January 9, 2024, at the esteemed Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, General Jagannath Bhosale Marg, Nariman Point, Mumbai, INDIA.
